Play Store: no internet, but Wi-Fi works
YouTube and Netflix work, but the Play Store says there is no connection. The network is usually not the problem then.
An expired Google sign-in
A known cause is that the sign-in of your Google account on the TV has expired. The Play Store then shows a general message about the connection, while the problem is the account. We saw this on a Philips Android TV: after signing in again the Play Store worked again.
- Go to Settings and then Accounts.
- Choose your Google account and sign in again, or remove the account and add it again.
Date and time
If the TV's clock is wrong, secure connections are refused. Turn on automatic time under Date & time.
Network and DNS
If you use your own DNS, a filter or a VPN, turn it off briefly and try again. If it then works, that setting blocks Google's services.
VYS TV does this for you
The app on your iPhone makes your Android TV or Google TV faster, with only your own apps, and restores everything if you want.
Questions
Can I install apps without the Play Store?
Yes, with VYS TV you can install an APK yourself (see Install an APK on your TV).
Do I lose my apps when I sign in again?
No, installed apps stay.
Does restarting help?
Sometimes, but with an expired sign-in the message returns until you sign in again.
