Storage full on your TV
Many TVs have little storage. Streaming apps keep storing more data, updates take up space, and at some point the TV gets slow or updates stop working.
Clear the cache
The cache is temporary storage that an app rebuilds itself. Clearing it is safe: you stay signed in and keep your settings.
- Per app: Settings, Apps, choose the app and Clear cache. Start with the largest streaming apps.
- On some Philips TVs it can be done in one go: Settings, Storage & reset, Internal shared storage, Cached data.
Careful: not the factory reset
The same menu often also contains Factory data reset. That erases everything on the TV, including your apps and sign-ins. Do not choose it if you only want to free up space.
Remove or turn off apps
Remove apps you do not use. Built-in apps often cannot be removed, but they can be turned off: with VYS TV on the Apps tab with Turn off. Parts the TV needs are locked there.
Measure what it brings
With Optimise TV speed VYS TV measures before and after how full the storage is and how much is free, next to the memory and the number of processes. So you see what it brought.
VYS TV does this for you
The app on your iPhone makes your Android TV or Google TV faster, with only your own apps, and restores everything if you want.
Questions
Do I lose anything when I clear the cache?
No. Your sign-ins and settings stay; the app rebuilds the cache itself.
Why does storage fill up again after a while?
Apps fill the cache again and updates take up space. Clearing it again now and then helps.
Can I bring back an app I turned off?
Yes, on the Apps tab with Turn on again, or everything at once with Back to original.
