Install an APK on your TV
Not every app is in your TV's store, or the TV only gets an old version. With VYS TV you put an app on it yourself, from your iPhone or from a computer.
How to install an app
- From your iPhone: the Apps tab, Install app, and choose an APK (up to 95 MB).
- From a computer: open the TV's page (the address is at the bottom of the home screen), log in with the code shown there as well and drag an APK, XAPK or APKS onto Install apps (up to 1.5 GB).
The first time, the TV asks for permission for "VYS TV": tick Always allow and choose Allow. A new app appears in the main row of your home screen by itself.
APK, XAPK or APKS?
An APK is a single app. Larger apps are often delivered in parts: an XAPK or APKS contains the base app plus parts for the processor type, the screen resolution and the language, sometimes with extra data (OBB). VYS TV only installs the parts that suit your TV.
Why a TV refuses an app
If the TV refuses, VYS TV tells you why. The most common reasons:
- Different processor type. Many TVs are 32-bit (armeabi-v7a); a file with only 64-bit code (arm64-v8a) does not work there. Download the version for your processor type.
- Newer Android required. The app needs a newer Android than your TV has. Look for an older version of the app.
- Different signature. The app is already there, from another source. Remove the app from the TV first.
- Missing parts or Google Play Protect: use the complete XAPK or APKS.
Only from a source you trust
An app from outside the store gets the same rights as any other app. So only install files from the maker or from a source you trust.
VYS TV does this for you
The app on your iPhone makes your Android TV or Google TV faster, with only your own apps, and restores everything if you want.
Questions
Does ADB need to be on to install?
Yes, USB debugging must be on (see Enable developer options on your TV).
Can I remove an installed app again?
Yes, simply via the TV's settings, or turn it off on the Apps tab.
Where do I see which processor type my TV has?
If the TV refuses a file for that reason, VYS TV names the type your TV supports in the message.
