Shorter animations on your TV
Every transition on an Android TV is a short animation. On a TV with a slow processor it feels sluggish. Halve the animations and everything responds noticeably faster, without losing anything.
By hand
- Turn on the developer options (see Enable developer options on your TV).
- Open Developer options and find the three animation scale settings: Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animator duration scale.
- Set all three to 0.5x.
With VYS TV
With Optimise TV speed VYS TV sets the three animation scales to 0.5x, together with a light home screen and fewer apps in the background. In the measurement before and after you see the animations go from 1x to 0.5x.
Why not turn them off completely?
Turning animations off is possible too, but then screens jump without a transition and it is harder to follow where you are. 0.5x is faster and stays calm to look at.
VYS TV does this for you
The app on your iPhone makes your Android TV or Google TV faster, with only your own apps, and restores everything if you want.
Questions
Does this really make the TV faster?
The TV does not compute faster, but you wait less at every transition. So it feels faster straight away.
Can I set it back?
Yes, set the scale back to 1x, or use Back to original in VYS TV.
Does it stay after a restart?
Yes, the animation scale stays after a restart.
