Profiles on your Android TV
Children want different apps from parents, and not everyone wants to browse someone else's apps. With profiles, everyone at home gets their own home screen on the same TV.
What a profile is
A profile is a separate layout of the VYS TV home screen: its own rows of apps, its own titles, its own style and its own background photo. You can make up to five profiles. A new profile starts as a copy of the profile that is on the TV at that moment.
Who is watching?
Under When the TV is turned on you choose what happens when the TV comes on:
- Ask who is watching: the TV shows the profiles and you choose with the remote.
- Default profile: the TV starts straight away with the profile you choose as default.
Switching on the TV
You can switch in two ways: with the profile button at the top right of the home screen, or with the Menu key on the remote.
Creating and managing profiles
- Open the Layout tab in the VYS TV app, or the TV's page in a browser (the address and code are at the bottom of the home screen).
- Choose + Add profile and give it a name.
- Choose the profile and arrange the home screen. Under Manage profile you change the name, put the profile on the TV now or delete it.
A backup contains all profiles with their rows, texts and photos (see Restoring the original home screen).
VYS TV does this for you
The app on your iPhone makes your Android TV or Google TV faster, with only your own apps, and restores everything if you want.
Questions
Are profiles also a parental lock?
No. A profile determines which apps are on the home screen; it does not block apps. Use the settings of the TV or of the app itself for that.
Will a profile be lost if I reinstall VYS TV?
Make a backup in the app first. It contains all profiles with rows, texts and photos, and you restore it easily.
How many profiles can I make?
Up to five.
