Turning on directly via Wi-Fi
The remote in VYS TV works directly via Wi-Fi on your own home network, not via our server. VYS TV only uses our server for installing, optimising and backups. You turn the remote on once per TV.
What goes via Wi-Fi and what via the server
- Directly via Wi-Fi: every key, the text you type and the screenshot. They go from your iPhone straight to VYS TV on the TV, within your home network, and never reach our server.
- Via our server: installing VYS TV, optimising the TV and the backups of your layout.
The top of Remote shows whether the TV is connected via Wi-Fi: Directly via Wi-Fi or Not connected via Wi-Fi yet.
How to turn it on
- Put your iPhone on the same Wi-Fi network as the TV (not a guest network).
- Open VYS TV, connect to the TV and go to Remote.
- At the top you see the box Control the TV via Wi-Fi. Tap Connect directly via Wi-Fi.
- Look at the TV. It asks whether USB debugging is allowed, this time for VYS TV itself. Tick Always allow from this computer and choose Allow.
- Done: Directly via Wi-Fi shows above the remote and the box disappears. You only need to do this once per TV.
Why the TV asks for permission again
When connecting, you gave permission to the app's connection. For directly via Wi-Fi, VYS TV on the TV carries out the keys and the screenshot itself. Android therefore asks separately once for VYS TV. With Always allow the TV does not ask again.
Taking a screenshot
In Remote, tap Take a screenshot of the TV. If directly via Wi-Fi is not on yet, the button takes you to the box Control the TV via Wi-Fi; turn it on there first. Press and hold the image to save it to Photos. Protected video, such as a film playing in a streaming app, stays black.
VYS TV does this for you
The app on your iPhone makes your Android TV or Google TV faster, with only your own apps, and restores everything if you want.
Questions
I do not see a question on the TV
Check that the TV is on. Tap Connect directly via Wi-Fi again; the question then appears again.
I chose Deny by mistake
Tap Connect directly via Wi-Fi again and choose Allow. Until then you cannot control the TV from the app; installing and optimising do work.
Does it work outside my home?
No. Directly via Wi-Fi only works when your iPhone is on the same network as the TV. Outside that network the TV cannot be controlled.
Does anything from my TV go to your server?
The keys, the text and the screenshot only travel between your iPhone and the TV. Installing, optimising and the backups of your layout do go via our server.
